New route, Los Angeles Huatulco April 5th 2013

Huatulco keeps growing its touristic and communication development. The opening of a new flight from LA for next June 7th with Aeromexico. This route will move hundreds of tourists for summer time to the paradise “Huatulco”.

This route will help with the commercial relationship with USA, and the economy development with the increasing of visitors to the Oaxacan coast. At the same time this flight is good for the nearby destinations as: Mazunte, Puerto Angel, Zipolite, and San Agustinillo, so the tourists can have different options to visit.

Turn off the Lights, Turn on the Planet March 25th

Binniguenda Hotel joined last Saturday March 23rd, to 1,800 million of people around the world with the “Planet Hour”.   Sharp at 8:30pm the lights of the hotel were turned off for one hour, taking part in the biggest ecological action in the history.

During the event we counted with the presence of Pia Oberholzer, General Manager of the Hotels and Motels Association  of Huatulco; Lorenzo Alfaro, director of the Earth Check program, guests, and staff of the Hotel.
Everybody gather together at the pool area and enjoyed a nice cocktail party with live music and butties.

With this activity we are trying to spread to be conscious of the need to adopt actions against the weather changes, emissions, to save energy and to make less the light contamination; this objective was reached thanks to the participation of the guests and our special and the staff of the hotel.

Triathlon World Cup 2013 March 15

Next May 18th & 19th, Huatulco is going to host the Triathlon World Cup 2013 in its third of tenth stages.  The first day of the event the modalities of sprint, Olympic, and relay; Sunday 19th the Triathlon World Cup, expecting the participation of the Elite international ranking athletes.

For the event the routes have been already set, they include a circuit to the Entrega beach, the Golf Course and Santa Cruz Beach, as the beginning and the goal. We are expecting that 1,200 contestants in the different categories make their best effort to get the most points in one of the most beautiful places of Mexico.

Oaxacan creativity December 21

Next December 23, there will a celebration of one of the most traditional festivals of Oaxaca: the Night of the Radishes.  The Plaza of the Constitution of the city of Oaxaca is the meeting point for thousands of horticulturists, artisans, tourists, and local people to observe the marvelous mini-sculptures that are made from the traditional radish, dried flowers and corn husks (totomoxtle).

The event has been held since 1897 and presents topics inspired by the Christmas season, such as nativity scenes and the arrival of the Three Kings, although the creativity goes beyond that, achieving to represent Oaxacan dances, costumes, the festival of the Virgin of Solitude, the Day of the Dead, and an endless list of cultural moments that are well-liked for their impeccable wit.  It is clearly a day to visit from the early hours on in order to enjoy this spectacle of Mexican art.

Monte Albán, 25 years as World Heritage December 13

On December 11, the archaeological zone Monte Albán with an extension of approximately two thousand hectares in the Valley of Oaxaca celebrated 25 years as World Heritage.  This zone has been admired in particular for the religious, political, and economic control that it sustained for more than three centuries in the Zapotec valley. 

This archaeological site was registered in the List of World Heritage sites on December 11 of 1987, together with Palenque and Teotihuacán, both zones with exceptional universal and representative value for Mexico. Its ball game, plaza, wakes, and dancers are vestiges that undoubtedly form an important part of the Mexican culture.
